Rowan Tree

After you have accepted a place at The Rowan Tree:

We will contact you during the Summer term and send information to your home address. The information will include parent information, pupil transition photographs and a booklet for you to fill in to gather information about your child or young person.

A member of the Senior Leadership Team will visit your child or young person at their current nursery or school, speak to their 1:1 or key worker and gather information about your child.

You will be invited to a Coffee afternoon to meet some of the team that will be working with your child.

You will get a booklet for your child containing photographs or their classroom and class staff.

The final two weeks of term your child or young person will be scheduled to visit their new class, this usually happens supported by their 1:1 or key worker. The staff that will be working with your child or young person will be on hand to spend time with your child or young person and chat with the 1:1 or key worker.

In September:

Your child or young person will start full time.

Rowan High

The transition to Rowan High School is an important step in supporting pupils as they move from their current setting into the next stage of their education. A well-planned transition process helps to ensure that students feel confident, informed, and prepared for the changes ahead. This typically includes opportunities for pupils to visit the school, meet key staff, and become familiar with the environment, routines, and expectations they will experience.

Alongside these visits, effective transition work also involves clear communication between schools, sharing relevant information about individual pupils’ needs, strengths, and support strategies. This allows Rowan High School to put appropriate provision in place from the outset, ensuring continuity of support. Where possible, additional activities such as induction days or targeted transition sessions can further help pupils build relationships and reduce any anxiety, promoting a smooth and positive start to their time at the school.

Please find below example documentation that will be received to support with your child's transition to our school.

Please contact Miss Clayton the Deputy Headteacher at Rowan High School with any questions regards to transition and she will be happy to help.
